Calton Hill: Initial Visual Analysis

Edinburgh gifted me with fantastic weather with which to document a walk around the site itself, especially across the scope of a day from mid-day to dusk. After so long drawing and picturing the Hill, it was great to be finally stood back there, amongst the grand constellation of monuments.

I traveled a circuitous route up to the summit of the hill, taking in the surrounding Regent’s terrace and Royal Terrace which together mark the lower boundary of the built environment on the eastern side of the hill, a private garden sandwiched between them.

What follows are images from this route, with attributions discussing their origin and siting.
